Disinhibited Eating and Cardiovascular Diseases in Stressed Police Force: The Carolina Blue Project

The Carolina Blue Project is a UNC study to learn more about work-related stress, eating behaviors, and cardiovascular disease risk factors among North Carolina and nearby states law enforcement officers.

  • 18 years ~ 99 years

Visit Availability

  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

What will be asked of you

Participants will complete an anonymous online survey (about 1 to 1.5 hours time). Participation also involves a 15-minute in-person assessment at your law enforcement department or the UNC Biobehavioral lab. The assessment includes measures of your height, weight, waist/hip circumferences, and blood pressure. We will also take a drop of blood from your finger for measurements of your fasting blood triglycerides, HDL/LDL cholesterol, and glucose level.


$100 Amazon gift card., Results of your height, weight, waist/hip circumferences, blood pressure, fasting blood triglycerides, HDL/LDL cholesterol, and glucose levels.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • you are a law enforcement officers or officers in training.
  • you currently work in any North Carolina or nearby states law enforcement departments.

Not eligible if:

  • you have a history of coagulation disorders (not including using blood thinners medicines such as aspirin).
