The main objective of this study is to develop methods for forecasting passenger waiting times in TSA lines at RDU airport.
The purpose of this research study is to investigate the relationship between sleep brain wave patterns and peripheral glucose (sugar) levels in individuals with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Participants will undergo continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) using a CGM device for up to two weeks before an in-laboratory sleep study which is part of routine medical care at UNC to examine how sugar levels fluctuate during sleep and how these fluctuations relate to brain wave activity
Evaluate night time hemoglobin desaturation (NHD), as part of routine clinical care, in subjects with sickle cell disease (SCD
This project will fund data collection for a natural experiment that jointly measures the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and social participation impacts of an e-bike voucher pilot in Raleigh, North Carolina. The city will soon invite residents to enter a lottery to win one of 150 e-bike vouchers. A portion of these vouchers will offer a deeper discount to low-income applicants. The lottery is a natural experiment that allows us to evaluate the causal effects of e-bike incentives, and e-bikes themselves, on travel behavior and quality of life. We will collect data through a panel survey of lottery participants before and after vouchers are awarded, with those who do not receive vouchers serving as a control group. . We will additionally provide study participants with access to OpenPATH, a real-time smartphone app developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to track changes in driving levels.
Explore family medicine physician attitudes and treatment practices around medications for opioid use disorder.
Cities are hot during daytime in summer time - much hotter than their surrounding vegetated, often forested rural areas. This effect, the Urban Heat Island Effect, is determined by building materials, human activity, and urban vegetation. But how does it affect individual thermal comfort? We are interested in understanding relationships between temperature and thermal comfort in urban areas.
Participants in this study are asked to read a list of words, then sort the words into categories based on their vowel sounds (ignoring letters). We are trying to find out how different two sounds have to be acoustically before speakers consider them to be linguistically different.
