Trauma-informed pedagogy study

The purpose of this study is to find out how teachers at a large university dealt with a serious event on campus, specifically a shooting, and how they helped their students afterward. We want to learn if teachers used special teaching methods called "trauma-informed pedagogy", which are designed to support students who may have been scared or upset by the event. We are asking teachers to fill out a survey to tell us how they felt and what they did in their classrooms after the shooting. By understanding this, we hope to improve support for teachers and students in the future when difficult events happen.

Investigating the Experience of NC Foster Parents Seeking Resources in Rural Areas

I am researching how foster parents seek information about mental health resources in North Carolina. Recently, a state-wide needs assessment showed that foster parents struggle to find mental health resources for the foster children in their care. This adds to the issues of not feeling supported, which is one of the main reasons foster parents quit. The goal of this research is to help foster parents feel supported and improve retention.

Dysphagia in College Students

We are doing a survey to learn about swallowing problems, like trouble swallowing food or drinks, in college students. The survey asks questions to see how often these problems happen and what students do to manage them. This will help us understand more about these issues and raise awareness so students can get help if needed.
