We will be conducting qualitative interviews with dental providers employing animal-assisted therapy to learn about current practices and recommendations for animal-assisted therapy use in dental clinics.
The GET SET Study is a research study for women who take medicines to help keep breast cancer from coming back. These medicines are called endocrine therapies and include Tamoxifen and Arimidex. The study will test different kinds of extra support programs, such as daily text message reminders and telephone counseling sessions, for women taking these medicines. We want to learn which support programs help women take their medicine as it is prescribed by their doctor.
The Currituck Sound is a unique coastal system of numerous habitats and relatively low salinity levels which allow for it to support diverse wildlife recreational opportunities, and other important ecosystem services. However, due to various anthropogenic factors, the sound is facing multiple threats such as sea level rise, erosion, and nutrient loading. In order to protect the sound, the Currituck Sound Coalition was formed and it now works to restore the sound. This research project will look at Currituck Sound Coalition members' perceptions of the Sound, its components, processes, and how they interact. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted to create members' mental models of the Sound. Models will be analyzed for differences and similarities.

In other disciplines, writing groups have been used to increase writing productivity and confidence in writing and publications skills. There is a lack of information about writing group use among genetic counselors. This study aims to understand the goals and experiences of genetic counselors participating in a Summer writing group.
We are no longer recruiting for this study. With the participants we do have, we obtain MRI images of the child's brain and administer cognitive behavioral assessments every 2 years. We are looking at brain structure, along with the assessments, to hopefully find biomarkers that predict mental illness.
The purpose of this research study is to use electroencephalography (EEG) to refine our understanding of the neural mechanisms that give rise to the memory changes observed in mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The information we learn from doing this study may help improve diagnosis of MCI in the future.
TCN PATHS is a Justice Community Opioid Innovations Network (JCOIN) study in collaboration with UNC-CH, Yale, The University of Puerto Rico, The Hennepin Research Institute, University of Rochester, University of Connecticut, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the University of Miami, aims to improve health outcomes for justice involved persons with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Opioid overdose is the leading cause of death, and a common cause of morbidity, after release from jail. Recently, because medications for OUD effectively reduced relapse, recidivism and overdose, several jails have started to treat OUD with medications. However, OUD treatment discontinuation upon release is a persistent problem. The long-term goal of the study is to reduce morbidity and mortality from OUD among justice-involved individuals.
