P-ICECAP

The goal of this study is to find out if, and how, controlling childrens' temperatures by cooling their body in the days after cardiac arrest can help the brain recover. Cardiac arrest means that the heart stopped beating. Brain injury due to a cardiac arrest may prevent a child from waking up or doing the things they were able to do before the arrest. Brain injury may cause a child to have slower development and/or loss of previous skills controlled by the brain, such as talking, feeding themselves, thinking, and walking. This study will see if cooling a child a few degrees below normal temperature, called therapeutic hypothermia, will help improve a child's chance of recovering brain function after a cardiac arrest.

Migraine and Mood Postpartum

We are studying the relationships between migraine and postpartum mood for the first three months after childbirth. We are interested in how women are able to cope with their migraine symptoms during the postpartum (after childbirth), and whether this affects their mood. We know that migraine and postpartum mood can be worse in women who have lower income and who identify with a minoritized racial or ethnic group. We are exploring why.

Dynamic Network Model of Resting-State iEEG/fMRI Seizure Onset Zone in Pediatric Epilepsy

we want to learn more about seizure activity while a patient with epilepsy is not seizing or is at "rest" using data from resting state intracranial EEG (rs-iEEG) and resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI).

Diabetes Sleep Study

The purpose of this research study is to investigate the relationship between sleep brain wave patterns and peripheral glucose (sugar) levels in individuals with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Participants will undergo continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) using a CGM device for up to two weeks before an in-laboratory sleep study which is part of routine medical care at UNC to examine how sugar levels fluctuate during sleep and how these fluctuations relate to brain wave activity

Study of NEU-411 as possible treatment for LRRK2-driven Parkinson's Disease

NEU-411 is being studied to see if it can slow Parkinson's Disease (PD) progression in individuals with PD who have LRRK2 pathway overactivity (referred to as LRRK2-driven) based on their genetic profile.

Exploring the Association between Concussion History and Lower Extremity Injury in Lacrosse and Ice Hockey Athletes

The purpose of this study is twofold: 1) to explore the association between self-reported concussion history and prevalence of self-reported lower extremity injury among lacrosse and ice hockey athletes with and without a concussion history and 2) to evaluate if sex is an effect modifier for the association between previous concussion and lower extremity injury. We will utilize an online survey including pre-validating injury history questionnaires (1,2) to conduct a descriptive epidemiological study. These data can be used to better understand the association between concussion history and lower extremity injury while considering sex as an effect modifier.
