Protest, Policy, and Racial Justice

This project will conduct interviews with key stakeholders in selected cities to build on our ongoing research and expertise related to protest, policing, and race. We will focus on four areas of policy response and institutional change: (1) officer training and support, (2) policing practices and techniques, (3) transparency and accountability, and (4) funding and responsibilities. Our project will generate high quality, publicly available reports on protest and policing, and we will assess the impact of protest on changes in policing alongside other major explanatory factors to provide rigorous analyses that can inform scholarship and broader understanding of this movement and its significance.

US Government Climate Change Website Credibility

Climate change is one of the biggest problems that humanity has faced in its history. Almost everybody has access to the internet in some form in the US, and a significant amount of research (academic or not) is done by searching the web for articles or websites that claim expert knowledge of the topic of interest. In the case of climate change, many of the authoritative websites in the US are federal government funded, from varying US agencies. These agency websites, given the amount of resources they command and the reputation provided by being a part of the federal government, have an immense opportunity to inform the public with reputable information and influence public action on climate change. The goal of this research is to inspect how credible some of the US government climate change websites actually are.

This study hopes to bridge that gap and to understand the student-athlete transition experience including outcomes of mental, physical, social, and occupational functioning. In this aim, we are inviting you to participate in an evidence-based, survey addendum to the standard of care exit interview. A total of 120 individuals will be invited to participate in this portion of the study. A subgroup of 30 participants will be invited to participate in a follow-up interview. If you are selected for follow-up, we will reach out to you in no more than 60 days after the completion of this survey.

Evaluating the impact of solar home system adoption on human well-being in Malawi

Only 11% of Malawi's population has access to electricity. Solar home systems offer a low cost source of reneweable energy to households without access to reliable and affordable electricity grid infrastructure. Our study explores the impact of adoption and use of solar home systems on access to lighting services, access to charging services for phones and appliances, and overall well-being as a result of improvements in living conditions. We hope to inform policy makers in Southern Africa about the potential and limitations of supporting solar home systems uptake as a strategy for addressing severe energy access in the region.
