Advancing Research and Treatment Longitudinal Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration study (ALLFTD)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate both sporadic (not inherited), and familial (inherited), forms of frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). Patients include both those who have symptoms of FTLD and those who do not (yet have a family history involving FTLD). This is an observational study, meaning that there is no investigational treatment involved. We will be working with patients for up to a 5 year period to learn more about FTLD using a neurological exam, tests of memory, behavior, and judgement, MRI, and biospecimen collection (blood and/or CSF). This study involves genetic testing of the genes so far identified to be associated with FTLD. The overall goal is to help better understand FTLD, to better understand the genetics of FTLD, and to use the information we learn to guide improved patient care and potential drug development.

Dialysis vascular access patient education video study

Current dialysis vascular access patient education materials can be overwhelming, not written in plain language, and not have enough realistic information about the steps involved in getting a dialysis vascular access before starting hemodialysis. This study is being done to create and test a dialysis vascular access educational video for patients. Participants would take part in a one-time interview about their thoughts on dialysis vascular access education and their ideas for a vascular access video.

The use of laboratory susceptibility test results to guide treatment of infections with Mycobacterum abscessus and other non-tuberculous mycobacteria

In an effort to improve therapeutic options for treatment, this study will explore the use of research laboratory testing results to guide treatment decisions for difficult to treat Mycobacterium abscessus and other non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections.
