This study will look at the current health statuses of members of the Lumbee tribe. Health statuses of other tribes who have federal recognition will be put together in order to compare them to those of the Lumbee. This study hopes to see what exactly federal recognition could potentially do for the Lumbee tribe when it comes to health if they were to receive it.

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone malignancy of childhood and adolescence. Survival rates for patients with standard risk (localized, resectable primary tumors) and high-risk disease (presence of metastases, unresectable or primary pelvic tumors) are 70% and 20-30%, respectively, and have remained unchanged for several decades despite numerous attempts to augment standard therapies. Multi-targeted receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (MTKIs), such as cabozantinib, can target signaling pathways that are known to be altered in osteosarcoma. Several MTKIs including cabozantinib have recently shown clinical evidence of activity in prospective studies for both pediatric and adult patients with advanced osteosarcoma. Furthermore, feasibility of administering MTKIs in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy has previously been shown in patients with AML, hepatocellular carcinoma, and soft tissue sarcomas. All existing studies estimate the health effects of disability insurance based on reduced form models. This paper fills the gap in the literature by developing a model that allows the estimation of the Social Security Disability Insurance effects on health in a structural way. The structural model enables me to analyze counterfactual scenarios. In particular, I concentrate on the modification of the SSDI program that permits partial benefits for the partially disabled.
