The purpose of this research study is to better understand how people think about their bodies.
Participants will be sent a 10-15 minute survey that will investigate football helmet maintenance to ensure optimum safety for our high school football athletes. It is imperative to understand our current knowledge base on this topic to improve our overall sports medicine care for our patients.
This project tests a short, evidence-based video to help educate patients about effective and safe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies for acute musculoskeletal pain (MSP). Subjects will be randomly placed into one of two study groups: intervention (educational video) and usual care. Patients will be contacted at baseline and at 1 and 3 months after the date of their acute visit encounter for follow-up. The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the success of the video intervention for improving pain recovery and preventing long-term opioid use among adults with musculoskeletal pain.
The 2023 OBXFS Capstone study will explore human perceptions of electrical lighting and artificial light at night (ALAN) on the ocean coast of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In an increasingly illuminated world, ALAN has many unintended consequences related to energy usage, ecology, human health, safety, and the night sky. Yet, ALAN is still rarely considered a serious problem due to low awareness by the pubic and governing authorities. The study will also assess residents' and visitors' opinions and perceptions regarding light pollution, including knowledge and perceived effects and risks, as well as levels of acceptability of preserving dark areas or reducing lighting, though a structured survey.
The goal of this study is to explore the beliefs that people living in the United States have about equality. The study is particularly interested in the increasingly popular idea that people should relate to one another as equals, and therefore some status differences among people may undermine equality.
The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the knowledge acquisition and information seeking habits of athletic trainers regarding the prevention and management of exertional heat illness. The study also aims to understand the facilitators and barriers associated with obtaining evidence-based information and implementing it in clinical practice. This will allow for the improvement of information delivery and knowledge transfer in the future.
Early Check is a research study to check newborns for rare but serious health problems. • Early Check does extra, free tests on the newborn screening blood sample that was already taken in the hospital using a heel prick. The tests allow us to find newborns with these health problems before symptoms start. • The goal of Early Check is to learn about the health problems and look for better treatments to help babies that have them.
Purpose: Evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic Emicizumab administered on a scheduled basis to prevent bleeds in patients with acquired hemophilia A (AHA).
The purpose of this research study is to learn if and how non-invasive brain stimulation influences motivation problems in Parkinson's disease. Men and women aged 55-80 years with Parkinson's disease for at least 5 years can join the study. There are three study visits. Participation will involve answering questions, doing exercises where you squeeze a joystick to earn "rewards", recording of your brain activity, and receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
The goal of this study is to better understand the organizational factors that influence burnout, clinician well-being, and patient outcomes. We hope to identify practices that can support ICU teams to provide high-quality care.
