Pathology Report Summarizer Assessment

We are building an automatic pathology report summarization system. We would like to include human judgement from professionals to help us understand and explain the results, and improve the system. In the evaluation, we will schedule a 30-min meeting do go through the details and for the professional to sign a consent form. The professional will expect to receive twenty documents including ten raw reports and ten summaries of these reports. They will be sent in a random order with no correspondence indicated. For each of the document, you will be asked to answer ten questions. We will evaluate the quality of the summaries based on the time she/he spent on reading the report, answering the questions, and the accuracy of the questions.

ICU Surrogate Medical Mistrust

In this study we will measure medical mistrust among surrogate decision makers of intensive care unit patients that are unable to make their own decisions because they are too sick. We will then monitor various outcomes using the electronic medical record to make associations between surrogate medical mistrust and patient goals of care. We suspect that more mistrustful surrogate decision makers will require more time to make end of life decisions in the intensive care unit.

SHARP Network Process Evaluation - Practitioner Interviews

In partnership with the NC Injury and Violence Prevention branch, the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center has been facilitating a peer learning network initiative for harm reduction practitioners in the central Appalachian region for the past 3 years. This initiative, the "Sharing Harm Reduction Practices (SHARP) Network," is funded by the CDC's Overdose Data to Action program and is entering the final project year. We are conducting a process evaluation of the network to document 1) the ways in which the network has supported practitioners in their work and 2) how we built the network in case other regions would like to replicate our efforts. We plan to conduct 8 qualitative interviews with peer members to understand their experience as network participants.
