People who are unable to use speech to meet their communication needs often use augmentative and alternative communication technology systems. Though many access their systems by directly touching a screen or keyboard, others with significant physical disabilities use alternate access methods. An increasingly common access method is the use of eye-tracking technologies (Fager et al., 2012), where cameras on the front of a device record where a user is looking in order to move and make selections with the on-screen mouse. This method requires users to look at the screen to move the cursor, and then to sustain their gaze on their selection for a pre-determined amount of times (i.e., dwell). The purpose of the study is to understand the impact of different types of visual feedback used to illustrate whereto cursor is on a screen on people's ability to navigate the screen with their eyes.
The purpose of this study is to improve the intake assessment tool of homeless shelters, to better meet the needs of the potential residents. This will be done by identifying and addressing gaps in the intake assessment tools that homeless shelters use. Specifically, it will focus on addressing gaps related to social determinants of health (SDOH). By identifying and addressing these gaps, homeless shelters will be able to better assess the SDOH needs of their potential residents. This will help identify more needs of homeless individuals, promote health, and reduce the risk for negative health outcomes in this population.
This project examines the impact of Medicaid expansion in two states (RI and KY) on opioid overdose deaths (OOD), suicides, and homicides deaths among formerly incarcerated persons (FIPs) using a comparison state that has not expanded Medicaid (North Carolina). It will also detail state-specific models from Kentucky (KY) and Rhode Island (RI) for expanding Medicaid. The hypothesized benefits of Medicaid expansion include increased access to substance abuse and mental health services and increased opportunities for legal employment.

Traditionally, someone is said to be an adult when they have met certain milestones like moving out of their parents' household, finishing education, beginning full-time work, marrying, and having children. But these milestones are harder to achieve nowadays, and some people might not even aspire to achieve them. Even more, we don't know much about how people in non-Western settings feel about these definitions of adulthood. While marriage is usually still a culturally important milestone, it is becoming delayed and harder to achieve. In my research, I want to find out how young people who just got married/will soon marry understand "adulthood." I focus Jakarta, Indonesia, the second largest city in the world, where tough economic times and a globalized culture meets strong traditions and religious values.

To assess satisfaction among cohorts I and II of NCPHLI Equity, as well as determine if the program met its learning goals, participants will be asked to complete a 15-minute interview on Zoom. Themes from these interviews will be used to inform future recommendations for this program.
