To explore the use and utility of SBT in patient care in critical care settings.
The study purpose is to evaluate laboratory professionals' perception of the effectiveness of education methods in preparing laboratory professionals to understand, implement, and educate other members of the patient care team on the technology and product/processing changes involved in implementing Pathogen Reduction Technology (PRT) treated products, specifically PRT treated platelets. This is important because PRTs role is continuing to grow and develop in transfusion medicine. As with any change or development within the field, education must be provided and prioritized as policies and procedures are updated to reflect those developments and the evolution of the best practices. Given the professional responsibility to properly handle the product and serve as a resource for patient care teams, it is imperative to determine if laboratory professionals are being effectively prepared to handle implementation of new products and processes as they develop.
I am conducting this research to investigate the confidence level of school nurses in North Carolina surrounding the identification of concerns of child maltreatment in students. Many children develop conditions due to their maltreatment; the school nurse is ideally placed for early identification of these situations and get help for the child. The goal of investigating this topic is to increase awareness of the confidence of school nurses in this topic.
Cochlear Implantation often results in loss of any remaining hearing that may have been present prior to the surgery and the patient uses only the cochlear implant to hear. Saving the remaining hearing is important because it can allow a recipient to also utilize a hearing aid in that ear in addition to the cochlear implant, termed electro-acoustic stimulation. Thus, the goals of this study are: 1) to determine the importance of electrocochleography in helping to save remaining hearing during the surgical procedure, 2) determine the benefit that a hearing aid and cochlear implant combination of listening impacts a patient's ability to understand speech compared to the traditional condition of using the cochlear implant alone without a hearing aid.
The purpose of this study is to see how political affiliations affect views and attitudes toward social and environmental sustainability. In addition, it aims to determine how different political affiliations respond to differently framed sustainable marketing messages. Individuals who take part in this research will be asked to view stimuli featuring a product and its sustainable impact. Then, they will be asked to record what they believe to be a fair price for each product.
To study intellectual humility and its development across the lifespan.
This is an exploratory study in cancer biomarker research, hoping to identify cell-signaling using DNA, in patients with SCLC.
The purpose of this research is to identify genetic and other patient factors that influence the ability of the medication clopidogrel (also known as Plavix) to block activation of platelets. This knowledge will help doctors identify patients who may not have a good response to clopidogrel.
The study is a pilot meant to test the feasibility of a larger project that explores whether people assign blame and demand accountability differently under different market arrangements. To improve the final research design, participants will be asked to provide detailed responses and respond to different versions of similar questions.
The purpose of this research study is to understand the use and effectiveness of Basic Needs services (i.e. food assistance resources such as food pantries, housing assistance, financial assistance) offered at UNC Chapel Hill. The study will also provide greater insight into the food security status of college students.
