The purpose of this study is to evaluate participation in an 8-week community-based, online program for adults that will help them make small changes to their diet, physical activity, and other behaviors to help promote their health or manage their weight. We are interested in who will participate, how much participants will use the program, how many participants are interested in preventing weight gain or losing weight, and how the program will affect eating, physical activity, and stress. This program is based on previous research on approaches the researchers have studied to help people make small changes to their behavior and is being offered in response to an identified need to offer health promotion resources during the COVID-19 pandemic
People who suffer ACL injuries are at an increased risk for knee osteoarthritis, which can lead to chronic pain and disability. In this study, we want to learn if adding vibration to rehabilitation following ACL reconstruction surgery can improve how your joints move while walking. We also want to learn if this vibration can improve how your muscles work and your quality of life compared to rehabilitation alone. *This study is a collaboration with the UNC Sports Medicine Institute*
The purpose of EDGI is to learn more about how genes influence risk for bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, and anorexia nervosa. If you have ever had one of these three eating disorders, we invite you to participate. Your involvement will help advance understanding of the genetics of eating disorders.
The CureGN Network acts as a "library" of data for investigators across the world to use to help us ask the following questions: 1) What is the disease?; 2) Why did it happen to me?; 3) Can it be passed down to my family members?; 4) What treatments work the best with the least side effects?
The purpose of the study is to collect blood from asymptomatic individuals to screen for antibodies for SARS-CoV2 , which is the virus that causes the COVID-19 illness. We would like to see how many people may have been exposed to the virus but who do not have symptoms of the illness. If there are enough tests available, we may ask you to allow us to also do a nasal or oral swab to test for COVID-19. Would you like to participate in research studies to help better understand lung health and the effect of air pollution on the lungs? We are currently looking for people with no history or asthma or smoking to see if you are eligible for other studies surrounding these topics.
The P3 Study is also known as the Path to Prevent Preterm Birth Study. This study collects detailed data and biologic samples. It will help researchers to understand why some women have more than one preterm birth. For example, information from this study may help doctors know which medications or medical care will work best to help women deliver full term. We hope that this research will help improve outcomes for moms and babies in North Carolina and beyond! We are including women who have had a previous preterm birth. We are also asking some women who have delivered only full term babies to participate.
While platforms market gig work as an opportunity for entrepreneurship and as a fall-back option during periods of unemployment, the current coronavirus pandemic -- and the importance of social distancing -- suggests that gig employment might not be a solution during times of national crisis. This mixed methods research project will utilize in-depth interviews and demographic surveys (conducted remotely) with up to 100 gig workers in NYC affiliated to examine how workers are experiencing the virus and how it is impacting their lives and livelihoods.
We are interested in learning if T-STEP (TEACCH School Transition to Employment and Post-Secondary Education Program) is an effective transition program for 16-21-year-olds with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder in the community college setting. This study will help us learn more about the effectiveness of the program compared to not receiving T-STEP or any transition service.
