ACHIEVE Implementation and Community Engagement Study

The purpose of this study is to ask our coalition members and patient action group members how engaged they feel in the ACHIEVE inititative. We are also asking clinic providers and staff how they feel about the guidelines we are asking them to implement as part of the ACHIEVE initiative. Finally, we are assessing the extent to which care teams demonstrate respectful care during interactions with patient actors.

An interview study to identify people with lived and living experiences' perspectives on methadone dispensing at community pharmacies

To explore people with lived and living experience (PWLLE) of opioid use and/or taking methadone on the feasibility of and interest in pharmacy-centered methadone access at rural community pharmacies. The model for which we will elicit PWLLE perspectives parallels several similar successful programs that exist outside of the US and several successful small-scale pilots that have been conducted in urban areas of the US, including NC.

Harvard Flourishing Study - Interview Portion

The purpose of this study is to understand what helps students at UNC thrive-academically, socially, and personally. Earlier this year, we conducted a survey to measure student well-being, but numbers alone don't tell the full story. Now, we are interviewing students to learn more about their experiences. These interviews will help us understand what supports student success and what challenges students face. Our goal is to provide UNC with better information to improve campus life, mental health resources, and academic support. By listening to students, we hope to make UNC a place where more students can flourish.

Medication Frequency for Infected Pleural Fluid

We are performing a clinical study to determine the optimal frequency for medications for infected pleural fluid, referred to as intrapleural enzyme therapy (IET). Participants will either receive once daily IET or twice daily IET. We hypothesize that once daily IET will be non-inferior to twice daily IET.

Opinions of the use of generative AI among Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS) students

This study aims to understand how Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS) students use generative AI (GenAI) for everyday and coursework purposes, and the barriers and facilitators to its use in these settings. GenAI is growing in use among college students and it is important to understand how students apply this technology into their college education.

Hunter Syndrome (MPS II) Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) Extension Study

Hunter Syndrome or Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II) is a rare genetic disorder caused by decreased levels of a specific enzyme, iduronate-2-sulfatase. Lack of this enzyme causes buildup of large sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The build up of GAGs causes significant damage to the body and brain. This extension study is evaluating the long-term safety and efficacy of JR-141, an enzyme replacement therapy, to provide the missing enzyme to the body. This allows for break down of the stored GAGs. JR-141 uses specific technology to cross the blood brain barrier so that the enzyme can get into the brain. JR-141 is expected to help both the cognitive (brain) and body effects of MPS II.
