Some patients are not able to urinate on their own right after surgery for pelvic organ prolapse so they have to go home with a catheter in their bladders. We want to know if it is safe and effective for them to remove their catheters the day after surgery instead of three days after surgery. If this is effective, they might have lower risk of bladder infection and higher satisfaction after surgery.
Our goal is to examine differences in 250 AL communities' preparedness for and response to COVID-19 across 7 states, and how preparedness and response varies by a) AL characteristics (e.g. provision of memory care for residents with ADRD, chain affiliation), b) medical and mental health care provision (e.g., on-site medical care, medical directorship, proportion of residents with the same provider), and c) relates to resident outbreaks.
We are conducting a survey to further understand the physical symptoms and healthcare experiences related to non-hormonal practices of gender affirmation for transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse adults. These include binding, tucking, packing, padding, and other practices. There is community knowledge that many of these practices can lead to physical symptoms and consequences, but there are few studies that demonstrate this. We are interested in exploring what the burden of symptoms are in our community, and what the community member response is.
