This project is studying the effect of pediatric care coordination on the behavioral health of children and parents.
We aim to develop, field-test, and promote improved ways to measure and assess the public health hazards associated with sanitation systems and practices in sub-Saharan Africa, with the overall goal of informing sanitation planning and implementation at community levels. This will involve learning more about the range and distribution of sanitation technologies encountered in two cities of Africa (i.e., Kampala and Lusaka). Learning more about the levels of microbiological hazard in onsite sanitation systems especially septic tanks and other technology-specific lessons can be usefully incorporated in citywide sanitation improvement tools.

The primary purpose of this project is to support local Triple P counties and/or agencies to monitor and improve Triple P implementation by increasing the availability of quality outcome monitoring resources for county and/or agency partners. In addition, the project team is interested in using the data for future research purposes.
The purpose of the study is to investigate nurses' perceptions of pain management and opioid use in patients who have received nerve blocks. This research aims to explore various aspects related to the utilization of nerve blocks in pain management protocols and the potential implications for opioid prescribing practices. Specifically, the study seeks to: Assess the adequacy of pain management in patients who receive nerve blocks, as perceived by frontline healthcare providers. Evaluate nurses' perceptions of the effectiveness of nerve blocks in providing targeted pain relief compared to traditional opioid-based analgesia. Investigate nurses' attitudes towards opioid sparing strategies and whether they believe patients who have received nerve blocks require fewer opioids for pain management. Examine nurses' experiences with and attitudes towards training in pain management, particularly in the context of nerve blocks, to identify potential areas for improvement in professional development. The purpose of this study is to create a registry that will collect clinical data from participants attending UNC Hospitals who may present with metastatic cancer and are evaluated to receive radiation therapy. We hope to create a registry that future studies can pull from to study the impacts of radiation therapy on patient cancer outcomes.
Our project will provide 5 rural pharmacies with tailored, evidence-based technical assistance and support to overcome buprenorphine dispensing barriers. Our goal is to build the capacity of rural community pharmacies to improve access to MOUD and reduce overdose deaths in their communities.
Predictive modeling has recently attracted a lot of attention from organizations trying to leverage AI and big data to improve their work processes such as decision-making. However, real-world problems are rarely well-formulated machine learning problems. Practitioners have to supply a well-defined predictive target to operationalize a predictive model. In such cases, they often resort to using observed variables to approximate the actual construct of interest. For example, people have used high sales numbers as a proxy for a good employee. Proxy label selection is a recurring challenge when predictive ML is applied to real-world problems. The purpose of this interview study is to understand how ML practitioners select proxy labels, evaluate proxy labels, and iterate through the different tasks involved.
This project is about the role of science and data in ocean management. The Big Data revolution is increasing knowledge about oceans and human impacts on them. This knowledge both fuels and is fueled by interest in development and conservation opportunities in oceans. Ocean data science initiatives (ODSIs) use new data and technologies to support work by government and non-government organizations to extend, reform and create new policies for ocean management. This project examines the role of ODSIs in improved ocean management, at global and regional scales, focusing on two key questions: 1) What kinds of new policies are possible based on knowledge generated by ODSIs? 3) How can ODSIs inform policies for ocean management in ways that that support environmental sustainability and human well-being? The project is developed to understand the clinical impact of a novel wearable sensor on pressure ulcer monitoring among lower limb amputation. This project includes three major testing procedures: 1) using able-body participants to demonstrate the effectiveness of the sensing system 2) using transtibial amputees without pressure ulcers to evaluate the performance of the sensing system in the challenging environment inside the socket 3) using transtibial amputees with diagnosed pressure ulcer to step up a clinical standard to use this sensing system.
