The overall goal of the UNC CFAR is to support research of HIV infection carried out by UNC CFAR affiliated investigators and collaborators outside UNC. In order to achieve the goal of providing cutting edge research and testing services, the UNC CFAR will use samples of blood, hair, urine, oral and genital secretions from HIV seropositive and seronegative donors to evaluate, validate and quality control current and future assays.
Recent updates to the clinical practice guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA) and US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), now recommend against the use of aspirin for primary prevention in older adults due to the associated bleeding risks. Moreover, it is estimated that 25-40% of older adults continue routine aspirin consumption without evidence-based clinical indications. Using the emergency department as a platform to evaluate patients' perspectives on discontinuing aspirin in scenarios where the risks or potential drawbacks surpass the benefits. This assessment takes into account the patient's care objectives, existing functionality, life expectancy, values, and preferences.

Black women have worse breast cancer outcomes than White women. Physical activity can help cancer survivors live longer, feel better, and stay healthier. However, there aren't many health promotion programs to help Black women diagnosed with breast cancer become physically active, feel better, and stay healthy. The purpose of this study is to understand what kind of health promotion programs Black women diagnosed with breast cancer prefer and how different things affect their health and lifestyle. The insights gained from this study will help develop a customized health promotion program for Black women diagnosed with breast cancer.
In this study, we will shadow, interview, and conduct focus groups with adults to learn about what is working well with supporting Black families in Southeatern NC with meeting their breastfeeding goals and what can be improved.
Our project will provide 5 rural pharmacies with tailored, evidence-based technical assistance and support to overcome buprenorphine dispensing barriers. Our goal is to build the capacity of rural community pharmacies to improve access to MOUD and reduce overdose deaths in their communities.
The purpose of this research study is to take an in-depth look at the North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning (NC2ML), a design-based research-practice partnership that has sustained for nearly a decade. The proposed study will explore the tools and methods that supported interaction between participants and why participants have remained engaged in the partnership for the last eight years.
Standardized patients are often utilized in health profession programs to attain clinician and didactic skill development. However, research on using standardized patients in dental hygiene education is limited.
