We are testing private well water and surface waters in the Anderson Community in Caswell and Alamance Counties. We are also conducting a brief survey with residents to understand their drinking water concerns and use of nearby lakes and streams.
The purpose of this study is to learn how having specific help over a period of time (financial navigation) can help reduce your distress related to the cost of cancer. You will complete a survey to see if you have financial distress. If you have financial distress, you will then fill out a few more surveys and be asked more details about your current financial situation to determine what programs could be helpful for you. The surveys can be completed in person, by email, or over the phone. The navigator can help you complete the surveys if needed. After that, depending on your needs, you will have 1-6 appointments with the financial navigator over a period of 2 weeks -4 months. Risks to you are small due to the educational nature of this study. They may include mild emotional distress while talking about your cancer and financial experiences. Benefits
This project is about the state's role in the environmental management of fishery and conservation. Environmental management of conservation provides a lens to understand how the state and policies influence its people. This project examines how Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora regulations on species of Corallium reshape the livelihoods and identity of Taiwan and its coral fishery sectors. This research will analyze legal documents and news report and interview fishermen, coral jewelry artisans, and fisheries officials.
The purpose of this study is to test a smartphone app that helps Black women with binge eating. First, participants in the study will complete interviews that help identify barriers and reasons that lead to binge eating in Black women with obesity. With that information, researchers will test and improve a smartphone app to include necessary intervention functions to reduce binge eating in the target population. Part of the testing process includes focus group sessions where participants will give feedback on : 1) organization and presentation, 2) content, 3) sensitivity to issues faced by Black women who binge eat; 4) therapeutic benefit; 5) user-friendliness; and 6) quality of intervention. All information collected from focus groups will be considered in the final version of the app.
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of the app outSMARTPD in determining a user's percent likelihood of having Parkinson's Disease through the studies and tests present in the app. The goal of the app is to determine if it is an effective tool for elderly populations that may have neurodegenerative disease, to help existing patients monitor their symptoms, and to help doctors and neurologists with patients that may have a Parkinsonian patient.
This study hopes to identify barriers to care for patients with interstitial lung disease by surveying patient experiences with symptoms, diagnosis, ongoing treatment of their lung disease.
