Let's learn about COVID 19 information being shared in our communities

The purpose of this project is to understand factors that contribute to/facilitate trustworthiness so that we can address those concerns in the COVID-19 communication materials we share. We will use concept mapping, which is a mixed method research approach for engaging voices and organizing ideas of a group of people to help understand complex concepts. We will take what we learn from Concept Mapping and use it to tailor NIH materials to be culturally responsive to their respective communities.

Performance Management in Local Governments During the COVID-19 Crisis

The proposed study will add to the growing literature exploring the impact of environmental turbulence on the organizational operations of local governments. We seek to study the changes in performance management practices in the public sector in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study adds to the research on cut-back management in local public organizations that focuses on the recession. Previous research on performance management during turbulence has shown a heightened use and effectiveness of local public organizations' performance management practices. The proposed study will take this research forward by exploring: • The extent to which COVID-19 impacted performance management systems in different local government departments. • The factors that lead to higher or lesser use of performance management during the crisis. • How leadership support and perceptions surrounding performance management impact the use of performance management in line departments during the crisis, and • Whether performance management helps local governments in economic recovery.

Studying Effects of COVID-19 on Young Drivers and Policy

To gain a comprehensive understanding of the effect of COVID-19 on the safety and mobility of young drivers we are comparing driver licensing data, driver education completion data and crash data for teen drivers in North Carolina from January 1 to June 30, 2020 with historical averages to assess the initial effects of the pandemic on teen drivers. We are also collecting self-report data from parents of teen drivers in North Carolina via online questionnaires and focus groups to learn how COVID-19 has affected their supervised driving experience.
