Kinship Care Study

When a parent dies, the person raising the children afterward faces unique challenges. Unfortunately, most research about grief has only focused on married couples. We want to make sure we understand the needs of ALL families.

- 1 online survey (about 10 minutes) - 1 phone interview (about 30 minutes to an hour)

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

You are a caregiver, parent, or guardian to at least 1 child (younger than 19 years old)
The child has experienced the death of a parent
The deceased parent's death was due to a chronic illness (such as cancer, heart disease, etc.)
At the time of their death, you were not together as a couple with the deceased parent
You are at least 18 years old

Not eligible if:

The parent's death was due to an accident, injury, suicide, or violence
The child has not experienced the death of a parent
You are not the caregiver, parent, or guardian to the child
You and the deceased parent, at the time of their death, were married or together as a couple
The child is now over 18 years old
