Mucus plugging is one of the causes of an asthma exacerbation, or "attack". In this study, we are looking for people who have asthma that requires daily medication to keep under control. We would ask you to inhale a strong saltwater solution to see how your lungs clear the mucus.
We will check your lung function at each visit. You will inhale a salt water mist at 2 different concentrations, and then you will undergo a scan to see how the mucus clears from your lungs. You will need to come back the next day for a short follow up visit. We will ask you to use albuterol at each visit as well.
