COPD Study of Two Drugs

This is a research study to find out if Azithromycin or Roflumilast, medicines used in COPD, works better for people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Age & Gender

  • 40 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

If you agree to be in this study, you will be randomly assigned one of these two medicines. There is only one in-person visit. You will have check-in calls with our call center at week one, month 3, month 6, and then every 6 months for up to three years.

Incentives

You will receive a $100 gift card right away when you join in the study. You will receive a $25 gift card for each time you answer your study questions (every 3-6 months). You can answer study questions online or by phone.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • COPD
  • Current or past smoker
  • Hospitalized for COPD in the last 12 months

Not eligible if:

  • Allergy to azithromycin or roflumilast
  • Current pregnancy
