Race-related Stress Study

In this study, we want to find out how stress related to race affects the cardiometabolic health of African American and Black women. We also want to look at factors that might help protect them from this kind of stress.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 40 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

This study involves a survey about your health and well-being, and measuring your body. The study also involves a blood draw and taking your blood pressure.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • You identify as an African America and/or Black woman

Not eligible if:

  • You are currently pregnant
  • You have a major depressive disorder, any suicidal ideations, a personality disorder, schizophrenia, substance-related/addictive disorder
  • You are taking antipsychotic medications and medications for a major depressive disorder
  • You have had a stroke, heart attack, coronary heart disease, heart failure, heart murmur or arrythmia, congenital heart disease, kidney failure or angina
