How does fat impact brain metabolism?

The purpose of this research study is to examine the impact of fat exposure on sugar metabolism in the human brain.

What will be asked of you

Each participant in this study will receive a glucose infusion, an MRI scan, and bloodwork. Participants in Aim 2 of the study will also receive a concentrated sugary drink and intravenous nutrition.

Approximately 3 months

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

You are non-diabetic and normal weight
You are non-diabetic and overweight/obese

Not eligible if:

You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
You have claustrophobia
You have a pacemaker or some metal objects inside your body
You are allergic to eggs
