Well-being and Heart Health Study

In this study, we want to find out if a mindfulness program that you can do at home can help. We are looking to see if it can improve emotional well-being and heart health for Black and Latino people.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Location

Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia (Washington DC), Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina (Statewide), Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia

What will be asked of you

This study involves online questionnaires and heart rate monitoring. Equipment and computer tablets will be shipped to you. The study also involves weekly Mindfulness Training sessions.

Incentives

You will receive up to $135 for completing all research sessions.

Total length of participation:
4 months

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You identify as Hispanic, Black, African-American, and/or Latino (a/e/x)
  • You experience symptoms of anxiety

Not eligible if:

  • You currently or have had a history of heart disease and/or cardiac arrhythmia
  • You have previously practiced mindfulness (e.g., practice =15 min per day of meditation, yoga, and body scan) within the past 6 months
  • You are physically unable to shift postures (sit to stand to sit)
