How do APOE genetic variants impact brain metabolism?

The purpose of this research study is to measure the effect of a genetic variation in the APOE gene and obesity on how sugar enters and is used by the human brain.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 55 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

What will be asked of you

Each participant in this study will receive a concentrated sugary drink, 2 glucose infusions, 2 MRI scans, and bloodwork.

Approximately 3 months

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You are non-diabetic and have normal weight
  • you are non-diabetic and overweight/obese

Not eligible if:

  • You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
  • You have claustrophobia
  • You have a pacemaker, permanent retainer, or some metal objects inside your body
