Influence of Footwear on Walking after Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction

The purpose of this study will be to compare if walking barefoot, in laboratory standard footwear, and in personal footwear affects the way you walk in both your ACL reconstructed leg and your uninjured leg. *This study is a collaboration with the UNC Sports Medicine Institute*

  • 18 years ~ 35 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

United States (Nationwide)

What will be asked of you

Participation consists of completing 5 practice walking trials and then 5 walking trials while barefoot, in laboratory-provided shoes, and personal athletic shoes (approximately 20-25 trials total).

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You had Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction 1-3 years ago.
  • You are between 18-35 years old.

Not eligible if:

  • You have had multiple ACL reconstructions.
  • You have had other lower extremity surgery besides one ACL reconstruction.
  • You have had any other lower extremity injury in the past 6 months.
