Type 2 Diabetes Blood Sugar Control and Weight Loss Study

A research study to see how well CagriSema compared to semaglutide, cagrilintide and placebo lowers blood sugar and body weight in people with type 2 diabetes treated with metformin with or without an SGLT2 inhibitor

What will be asked of you

You will need to self-inject study medication once weekly, attend some visits fasting, and complete questionnaires. You will also need to use a highly effective method of contraception if you are of childbearing potential. You will be asked to wear a blinded continuous glucose monitoring device (Dexcom CGM) for 20 days at a time at 3 separate points during the study. The study also involves 14 blood draws, 3 eye exams, and 4 EKGs.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You were diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at least 6 months ago
  • You have been on a stable dose of your diabetes medications for at least 3 months
  • Your blood sugar is still elevated (HbA1c of 7-10.5%)
  • You have a BMI of at least 25 (overweight or obese)

Not eligible if:

  • You take any medication for diabetes, other than metformin or an SGLT2 inhibitor (Jardiance, Farxiga, Invokana, etc)
  • You take any medications for weight loss (semaglutide, tirzepitide, phentermine, etc.)
  • You have had a weight loss procedure that has not been reversed
  • You are pregnant, breast-feeding, intend to become pregnant during the study period, or are unwilling to use highly effective contraception
  • You have other unstable or critical chronic illnesses
