Friendship Pathways Study

The Friendship Pathways study focuses on how social interactions affect the communication pathway between the brain and the immune system.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 30 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

What will be asked of you

Phone Screening Session I: Consent, vitals, part 1 of Impressions Task Session II: 5 blood draws, potential MRI scan, FDA-approved medication or placebo, questionnaires Session III: Vitals, 1 blood draw, questionnaire

5.5 - 7 hours

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • Ages 18-30 years old
  • Right-handed
  • Fluent in English or Spanish reading, writing, speaking, at least at a 10th grade level
  • Body mass index less than or equal to 35 kg/m^2
  • Biologically male or female

Not eligible if:

  • Non-removable metal devices, implants, or objects in the body
  • Currently pregnant
  • History of fainting spells or any heart condition
  • History of low resting heart rate or low blood pressure
  • Current use of prescription medications
