Get Real and Heel: Cancer and Exercise Registry Study

Exercise has been shown to be beneficial for the management of common adverse effects of cancer and its treatment such as fatigue, anxiety, depression, changes in strength and physical function, and sleep disruption. Get Real and Heel provides participants with the opportunity to obtain these benefits, regardless of cancer type and disease stage, and without cost.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • In-home visits available
  • Visits can be combined with regular clinical appointments

What will be asked of you

Attend 3 exercise classes per week for 12 weeks either in-person or online, complete a baseline and end of program physical assessment and surveys.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • if you have received a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years
  • Live in NC
  • Were treated at UNC

Not eligible if:

  • If your physician has told you to not exercise
