Targeted lifestyle change (TLC) group prenatal care for women at high risk for gestational diabetes

The purpose of this study is to find out if a type of group prenatal care focused on lifestyle changes can help improve the health of pregnant people who are at risk of developing diabetes in pregnancy, compared to regular, one-on-one prenatal care. We will follow patients through their pregnancy and for 12 weeks after giving birth to see if TLC group care leads to better health for both mothers and babies.

What will be asked of you

If eligible you'll be randomly assigned to either continue traditional prenatal care or receive prenatal care in the TLC group. Participants will complete surveys at three points and baby measurements twice after birth. If you get assigned to TLC Group Care, you'll have the comfort of seeing the same caring provider throughout your pregnancy, someone who will be by your side every step of the way. Together, you'll have 2-hour-long visits to about what truly matters to you, helping you feel more confident and supported as you make important decisions for yourself and your growing family. Beyond just appointments, you'll experience moments of calm and joy-whether it's through gentle stretching, easy yoga, exploring new recipes, or simply unwinding with deep breathing to ease your mind. But one of the most special parts? You'll be surrounded by other moms-to-be on a similar journey. Together, you'll laugh, learn, and support each other, creating bonds that often grow into lasting friendships. In TLC, you're not just receiving care, you're becoming part of a community that truly cares for you.
