Type 2 Diabetes Blood Sugar Control and Weight Loss Study

A research study to test the effect of a new investigational drug for people with type 2 diabetes on once-daily basal insulin with or without metformin.

What will be asked of you

You will need to self-inject study medication once weekly, attend 7 of the visits fasting, and complete questionnaires using a questionnaire app. You will need to communicate with the study team weekly to adjust your insulin doses. You will need to record information about your study medicine doses, your insulin doses, and your blood sugars using an eDiary and provided blood glucose meter. You will also need to use a highly effective method of contraception if you are of childbearing potential.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at least 180 days before your first study appointment
  • You are on a stable once-daily dose of basal insulin alone or in combination with metformin
  • Your HbA1c is between 7-10.5%
  • Your BMI is ≥ 25 kg/m2

Not eligible if:

  • You are pregnant, breast-feeding, intend to become pregnant during the study period, or are unwilling to use highly effective contraception
  • You have used any medication for diabetes other than basal insulin or metformin in the last 90 days
  • You have recurrent severe hypoglycemic episodes or hypoglycemia unawareness
  • You have had a weight loss procedure that has not been reversed, or have used any weight loss medications in the last 90 days
  • You have other unstable or critical chronic illnesses
