Local Social Work Theories and Practices in Uganda

To understand the views and perceptions of Ugandan social work academics who utilize decolonial and indigenous theories and practices, including ubuntu, in their work.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 65 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed
  • In-home visits available

What will be asked of you

You will participate in a 45 to 60-minute in-person interview. The interview will focus on your experiences of decolonizing and indigenous social work theory and practices in your work.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Ugandan academic with postgraduate degree (MSW, PhD, DSW)
  • 18-65 years old
  • currently employed by a Ugandan University or college
  • uses decolonizing or indigenous, including ubuntu, theories in their social work practice

Not eligible if:

  • not a Ugandan academic
  • do not have a postgraduate degree
  • do not utilize decolonizing or indigenous theories in your work
