Vestibular/Balance and Hearing Loss Study

In this study, we want to find out if kids who have trouble hearing also have problems with their balance and vision. Our goal is to figure out if there is a connection between these issues.

Age & Gender

  • 6 years ~ 12 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed
  • Visits can be combined with regular clinical appointments

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

We will ask children to participate in several clinical tests of balance and gait. These will include having the child standing on unsteady surfaces, spinning the child in a chair, and having the child walk up and down a hallway while performing other tasks.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have sensorineural hearing loss
  • You have typical hearing

Not eligible if:

  • You have other neurological diagnoses
  • You have any musculoskeletal diagnoses
  • You are not able to walk independently
