OCD in African Americans Study

In this study, we want to learn about African Americans who have or think they have OCD. This will help us learn more about OCD and new methods for prevention and treatment.

Age & Gender

  • 8 years ~ 89 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

United States (Nationwide)

What will be asked of you

All participation can be completed at home and at your own pace. You will first complete an eligibility questionnaire. If you are eligible, you will complete more questionnaires and provide a saliva sample.

Incentives

participants will be paid $50 for their participation in assessments and sending the saliva sample. An additional $25 will be provided for each family member or each control that provides a saliva sample.

Total length of participation:
3-4 hours

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • Diagnosis or suspicion of OCD, or direct relation to someone with a diagnosis or suspicion of OCD.
  • Self identify as Black, mixed race including Black, or report at least one grandparent who identifies as Black.
  • Ages 5 to 70, if participant is a proband

Not eligible if:

  • None

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Self identify as Black, mixed race including Black, or report at least one grandparent who identifies as Black.
  • No known diagnosis or suspicion of OCD.

Not eligible if:

  • None
