Pregnancy Loss and Neonatal Death: Understanding Feelings

In this study, we want to learn more about the feelings and experiences of women after a recent pregnancy loss or loss of a newborn baby (within the last 90 days). This includes loss after 16 weeks of pregnancy or in the first month after delivery.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 45 years
  • Female, Gender Inclusive

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

Participants will meet virtually with the study team every three months, receive online surveys monthly to their email/phone, and be asked to wear an Oura Ring to look at heart rate and sleep. The study is observational.

Up to 6 video visits (must have video accessibility)
Total length of participation:
12 months

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth after 16 weeks of pregnancy within the last 90 days
  • You have experienced a loss of a newborn baby while in the NICU within the last 90 days

Not eligible if:

  • You have an active substance use disorder(s)
  • You have an active diagnosis of PTSD prior to your loss
  • You have a diagnosis of Bipolar Affective Disorder or a Psychotic Disorder
  • Do not live in North Carolina
