Sitting and Blood Vessel Health Study

In this study, we want to see how the position of your legs affects your arteries after sitting for a long time.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 59 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

There will be two lab visits, where you sit for 3 hours. The study also involves measuring how stiff your arteries are using a blood pressure cuff and neck probe, as well as measuring other outcomes like heart rate.

Incentives

$50 gift card for completing both visits , Find out information about your heart health (e.g., blood pressure) and free campus parking during your visit.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • None

Not eligible if:

  • You have any acute or chronic illness/disease (e.g., heart disease, diabetes).
  • Your systolic blood pressure is higher than 160 mmHg.
  • You use anti-hypertensive or diabetes medications.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is greater than 40 kg/m2 or less than 18.5 kg/m2.
  • You regularly drink more than 15 alcoholic drinks per week.
