Walking Feedback Study

In this study, we want to see how feedback affects how people walk. We will look at people over 40, those with Parkinson's disease, and those who have had a stroke. The goal is to learn how to make walking training better for rehab.

Age & Gender

  • 40 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

At the first visit, we will test your thinking and your balance. At the next visit, you will walk on a treadmill for up to 21minutes (with rest breaks as you need them) while looking at a TV screen that gives you feedback about your walking, and you will walk over the ground for short walks without any feedback.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You can walk 30 feet without help
  • You are a healthy older adult
  • You have had a Stroke
  • You have been diagnosed with Parkinson disease
  • You can communicate with researchers

Not eligible if:

  • You have uncontrolled (not being managed by a doctor) heart/lung/metabolic disease
  • You have had a heart-attack in the last year
  • You have a neurologic disease other than Parkinson disease or Stroke
  • You have had a stroke less than 6 months ago
