Mental Health Study

In this study, we want to see how social experiences and puberty can affect the mental health of preteen girls. We want to help improve youth mental health support.

Age & Gender

  • 8 years ~ 99 years
  • Female, Gender Inclusive

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

The study involves interviews, questionnaires, surveys, and saliva collection. Study participation lasts for one year and a remote or in-person baseline visit.

Incentives

Up to $300 for parents and up to $570 for children, We will provide resources for youth mental health and safety.

1 year

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Your child has not yet started their period

Not eligible if:

  • Your child has an active safety concern (e.g. imminent suicide risk) that requires immediate intervention
  • Your child is unable to complete study tasks or assessments for any reason
  • Your child has a serious medical condition
  • Your child has active psychosis or a current diagnosis of schizophrenia
