Physical Activity and Community EmPOWERment Program

We are looking for people with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers to participate in a research study testing a 16-week exercise program.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

If you join, you will participate in a 16-week long exercise program that includes a weekly workout class and weekly coaching meetings. You and your caregiver will also complete some assessments before, during, and after the exercise program.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have an intellectual disability
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have a caregiver willing to participate in the study
  • You live in North Carolina

Not eligible if:

  • You do not have an intellectual disability
  • You are not willing to participate in a 16-week exercise program
  • You do not have a caregiver willing to participate
  • You do not live in North Carolina
  • You are under 18 years old
