The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) in public library programming on the social lives of teenage participants. The first question this study seeks to answer is, how do TTRPG programs at public libraries affect the social lives and well-being of teens who participate in them regularly? Second, how does TTRPG programming affect the program participants' perceptions of and engagement with the public library in general? These questions will be answered using a combination of focus groups and interviews. Focus groups will be conducted with two groups of teenagers who regularly play TTRPGs at their local public library, and interviews will be conducted with two librarians who organize and facilitate TTRPG programming at their workplace. The study is expected to reveal how important TTRPG programming is to these teens' sense of belonging and use of services at their local library.
Thank you for your interest, but this study is recruiting by invitation only.
