This study looks at how the way people speak-like their tone, pitch, and pauses-can affect how others feel about what they are saying. We're especially interested in understanding how these speech patterns are used in political messages to influence people's opinions. To learn more, we're asking people to listen to short audio clips and tell us how they feel about the voices they hear. This will help us figure out how sound alone, even without understanding the words, can shape opinions.
We invite you to take part in a research study exploring how people perceive audio content shared by news outlets. This study is part of an academic research project aimed at understanding how auditory elements influence opinions and attitudes. What Will You Do? As a participant, you will listen to a series of short audio clips and answer follow-up questions about your impressions. Additionally, you will respond to a few questions about your demographic background and political preferences. The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. To take part, you must: Be 18 years of age or older Reside in the United States Be fluent in written and spoken English Your participation will contribute to important research investigating the role of audio in shaping public perceptions. The data collected will be anonymized, securely stored, and used exclusively for academic purposes. If you are interested, please click the link below to access the survey. You will need a device capable of playing audio clips and answering follow-up questions.
