Type 1 Diabetes Weight Loss Study

The purpose of this study is to look at how safe and effective an investigational medication is for people who have type 1 diabetes and obesity or overweight.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

At each visit, you will meet with a member of the study team and answer questions about your health. You will be asked to complete diaries, questionnaires, and follow the instructions of the study doctor. The study also involves blood draws, EKGs, eye examinations, and willingness to take the study medication weekly.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • you have type 1 diabetes
  • you have been on a stable insulin delivery method and are willing to continue it
  • you are willing to wear a CGM and complete diaries and questionnaires
  • you have a BMI of at least 25
  • your HbA1c is between 7-10.5%

Not eligible if:

  • you have type 2 diabetes or no diabetes at all
  • you have had recent DKA or severe hypoglycemia
  • you are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed in the next 2 years
  • you are currently receiving or planning to receive treatment for diabetic retinopathy and/or macular edema
  • you have had chronic or acute pancreatitis at any time
