Weight Loss Study

This study is being done to see if an investigational medication works better than a placebo (dummy medicine) for weight loss.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

At each visit, yoy will meet with a member of the study team and answer questions about your health. You will be asked to inject yourself with study medication weekly, complete diaries, answer questionnaires, work with a registered dietitian, and follow the instructions of the study doctor. The study also involves fasting blood draws and EKGs.

About 1 year and 8 months for the main study and an additional about 1 year and 8 months for the extension phase

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • your BMI is at least 30
  • you would like to lose at least 25% of your body weight
  • you have tried at least once to lose weight by changing your diet
  • your weight has been stable for the last 3 months
  • you are willing to inject yourself with study medication weekly

Not eligible if:

  • you have been diagnosed with diabetes (type 1 or type 2)
  • you are currently taking or have taken weight loss medication in the last 3 months
  • you have had obesity treatment with surgery or a weight loss device, with some exceptions
  • you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant in the near future
  • you are of childbearing potential and are not willing to use highly effective contraception, as outlined by the study protocol
