Young Adult Alcohol Use and Social Media Study

We are conducting two 3 hour in-person workshops with young adults who consume alcohol to support the development of an intervention which uses social medial to address the link between alcohol use and cancer risk.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 25 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

What will be asked of you

At each workshop, you will participate in focus group discussions and activities with other young adults to gather feedback on the development on a social media intervention to address the link between alcohol use and cancer risk.

Incentives

Up to $120 ($60/workshop attended)

3 weeks (attendance at 2 3-hour in-person workshops)

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • You are between 18-25 years old
  • You drink alcohol
  • You use social media (e.g., Instagram, TikTok)
  • You can attend 2 in-person workshops in downtown Chapel Hill
  • You can participate in a workshop conducted in English

Not eligible if:

  • You are not 18-25 years old
  • You do not drink alcohol
  • You do not use social media
  • You are not available to attend 2 in-person workshops in downtown Chapel Hill
  • You cannot participate in a workshop conducted in English
