We want to talk to people who have a serious problem with blood flow to their legs or feet, called chronic limb threatening ischemia. Our goal is to learn about the things that make it hard for them to get the medical help they need. We'll chat with each person twice: once now, and then again in six months. We're doing this so we can see how their treatment goes over a longer period. What we learn from everyone will help us figure out how doctors and hospitals can get better at talking with patients, planning their medical care, and making sure they have the help they need from family, friends, or other support systems. It's all about understanding things from your point of view.
You will participate in two interviews. First, a 1-hour interview that can be done in person or over the computer on Zoom. After 6 months, we will schedule another 1-hour interview (in person or by Zoom) that will ask about the timeline of your diagnosis, how you interacted with different parts of the healthcare system, who is involved in helping making medical decisions, what resources you have (or wish you had) to make the journey smoother, and how you were feeling throughout. As we are gathering this information, we will work with you to create a "journey map". If during these interviews, there is concern that you have a clinical condition that needs medical attention, the leader of the research, who is a vascular surgeon, Dr. McGinigle, will assess you and make sure that you are connected to the medical care that you need.
$50 for the first interview, $100 for the second interview
