Work and Wellness for Rural and Underserved Families

To examine the relationship of work and unmet healthcare needs among precariously-employed adults, aged 18 to 49, who are living in rural and underserved counties in eastern North Carolina.

North Carolina (Anson, Bertie, Edgecombe, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Vance, Warren, Washington, Wilson)

What will be asked of you

The survey will ask questions about your received and omitted healthcare services sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and addiction recovery health. It will also ask questions about your paid work experiences and how work may affect your ability to seek healthcare services.

$20 gift card

Survey-only with optional individual interview

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You are living in eastern North Carolina.
  • You are age 18 to 49.
  • You do not have full-time employment with benefits.
  • You have paid employment that includes temp, on-call, gig, seasonal, or other non-standard employment arrangements.
  • You needed healthcare in last 12 months but did not receive it or received it with delay.

Not eligible if:

  • You are unable or unwilling to provide consent.
  • You do not have English language proficiency.
