Latino Families and Teen Dating Violence Study

The goal of this research study is to better understand Latine teens' relationship with their family and how Latine families experience and cope with challenges over time. We also want to learn about teens' dating experiences including dating violence experiences.

Age & Gender

  • 13 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

Location

Florida, North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

The parent and teen (13-19) will be asked to participate in separate 1 hour interviews. Interviews are conducted in English and Spanish, and will be in person or over Zoom. You will be asked about family relationships and teens' dating experiences over time, including dating violence experiences, as well as about how you and your family handle challenges and stress.

Incentives

$20 gift card each, $40 total per family

In-person visits:
1 (may be in person or remotely)
Phone or online visits:
1 (scheduling will be over the phone or email)
Total length of participation:
1 hour and 10 minutes

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Adolescents ages 13-19 who identify as Latina/o/e and their parents
  • Both parent and adolescent (13-19) are willing to participate

Not eligible if:

  • Don't speak either English or Spanish
