Exploring Sickle Cell and Blood Cells Study

We are doing this study to understand how blood cells from people with sickle cell disease react to certain tiny molecules called parmodulins. These small molecules might help make new medicines to ease the pain from sickle cell crises. We'll look at blood samples from those with sickle cell disease to learn more.

  • 7 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

What will be asked of you

You'll join us for one in-person visit that will take about 30 minutes. During that time, you'll give a small blood sample. For your help, you'll get a $20 gift card.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Age >= 7 years old who are in good health
  • Able to comprehend and complete the consent process in English
  • Able to provide blood sample

Not eligible if:

  • You take daily NSAIDs or anti-platelet medications
  • You are on blood thinner medications
  • You are not able to provide a blood sample
  • You are younger than age 7
  • You have a chronic blood disease other than sickle cell disease
