Menopause Transition Study

The purpose of the study is to better understand the links between the menopause transition, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and aging.

Age & Gender

  • 45 years ~ 55 years
  • Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Visits can be combined with regular clinical appointments

What will be asked of you

The protocol will require baseline, 12 month and 24 month assessments. They will have blood sampling for collection of study primary and secondary endpoints and a physical examination with biometric measurements. Flow mediated dilation will be performed at baseline, 12 and 24 months.

Incentives

Information provided upon request, Participants will be able to keep any activity trackers or blood pressure cuffs that are required for participation in the study.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • Late menopause transition (greater than 60 but less than 365 days of amenorrhea)
  • No current use of hormone therapy or hormonal contraception
  • Presence of uterus and at least one ovary
  • Have a smartphone and broadband access adequate to attent telehealth appointments

Not eligible if:

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia with a BMI > 30
  • Lack regular menstrual periods in mid-reproductive life (ages 25-38) when not on hormones or not pregnant
  • Pregnancy or actively trying to get pregnant
  • Undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Untreated alcoholism or substance use
